William Donnelly and John Marsh Retire After a Lifetime in Law

Kenworthy's Chambers | March 24, 2022
Criminal Barristers William Donnelly and John Marsh are set to retire from Kenworthy’s Chambers at the end of March 2022, after a combined 76 years at the bar.

Following William Donnelly’s extensive career at the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), ‘Bill’ was called to the Bar in 1981 and transferred to the Bar in 2011. He has been involved in the prosecution of large-scale drug supply and drug conspiracy cases for numerous years, after famously working on Operation Waddington and Operation Redbud – huge cases centered on drugs, firearms, and proceeds of crime.

John Marsh has had a long-standing career in Criminal Law specializing in cases involving violence, sexual offences, and drugs. After being called to the Bar in 1977 and a lifetime in law, he is now ready to retire.

They are two of the most experienced and well-respected Criminal Barristers in the UK. Please join Kenworthy’s Chambers in wishing John Marsh and William Donnelly a happy retirement.

Criminal Clerk Paul Mander said “I want to wish a happy retirement to John and Bill.

“It’s been a pleasure working with John. His humour and endless supply of jokes will be sorely missed by the clerking team and members of the bar.

“Bill, I hope your retirement is filled with lots of sunshine and plenty more trips to Wembley! Enjoy it!”

Practice Manager Maria Rushworth said “John Marsh is truly one of a kind. He has a great relationship with our Clerks and Members of Chambers, making many of us smile over the years with his kindness and humour. Not only is he funny and kind, but he is also interesting to listen to, with a broad knowledge.

“William Donnelly is also a great Barrister to have in your team. Nothing is ever too much trouble for him. He’s always helpful and is a lovely person. He too has built strong relationships with our Clerks and Members of Chambers, so we’ll be sad to say goodbye.

“We all wish John and Bill the best in their retirement and thank them for their service.”
